Is there a post-run party, too?

From superfly on Sat, Sep 15, 2007 at 19:42:27

In STG...Yes.

From James in Sunny AZ on Sat, Sep 15, 2007 at 22:18:32

Have any others indicated what they are bringing to the pre-race party?

From Superfly on Sun, Sep 16, 2007 at 14:51:13

James...No. So it's wide open for what you want to bring.

From Mik'L on Mon, Sep 17, 2007 at 12:10:02

Don't forget to email me with your RSVP...even if I know you are coming. I'm keeping a count that way so we have some idea how crazy this party is going to get!

From Jon on Mon, Sep 17, 2007 at 12:36:42

Where/when is the post run party?

From Paul Petersen on Mon, Sep 17, 2007 at 12:46:01

The location and time of the post-race party will be given through a series of clues throughout the St. George Marathon itself. Read every hand-painted sign. Look under every gatorade cup. Watch for coded flasher blinks from police cars. It will all fall into place by the finish line.

From Mik'L on Mon, Sep 17, 2007 at 13:00:29

Can you really do all that while running a 2:19 Paul? (That is the time you ran in my dream last night...sadly I dream about the STGM because Clyde talks about it so much. Unfortunately I missed you and Clyde and everyone else coming through the finish line, which was the nightmarish part about it.)

Jon- I think the post-party will be more of a figure-it-out-at-the-finish-type-thing. And I guess you (and me too) aren't invited since we aren't running the marathon and won't have a chance to unscramble the clues.

From Paul Petersen on Mon, Sep 17, 2007 at 13:27:37

Well, I assumed that you guys would be the ones setting up the clues, so you won't need to unscramble them.

I hope your dream is true, other than the part about not getting to the finish line. Most of my running dreams involve me getting lost in someone's house before the race or during the race. Very frustrating.

From Jon on Mon, Sep 17, 2007 at 14:21:56

Like when you got lost in Clearfield? Word of advice- don't go into any strange houses the morning of St. George. And if you get lost in a port-o-potty before the race and can't get out, ... well, then you don't really deserve to run the race.

From Jon on Mon, Sep 17, 2007 at 16:41:44

Is there really not going to be a pre-decided time/place?

From Superfly on Mon, Sep 17, 2007 at 21:26:02

Jon I think the time will be around 6 or so on Saturday night. We will have it at the same place as the pasta party. We will be having ice cream and cake because Mik'L will be 26 years old on marathon day as well.

But like Mik'L said I think we will just plan it out with everyone Friday night during the pasta party.

Just wanted to let folks know that if they are aware of anyone still looking for lodging Fri/Sat night for the SG marathon I have a room available (family suite) at the Budget Inn. Cost is $114 per night and requires 2-night stay. If any of you know of anyone interested let me know and we can get the room switched over to new name/credit-card.

From Mik'L on Tue, Sep 18, 2007 at 13:37:20

We are NOT having a birthday party...sorry. Are we really going to invade my parents house twice?

From Superfly on Tue, Sep 18, 2007 at 14:04:36

Yes we are having a party for you. We might as well have the post race thing there. Maybe at the pool/bbq area in the Boulders.

From Paul Petersen on Tue, Sep 18, 2007 at 14:24:56

Sunday the 7th is my wife's birthday too (her 28th). Mik'L, if it makes you feel better, you two can share the party.

I am still against the "birthday" party, but we can definitely celebrate Stacy's bday! :) Anyone else having a bday around the marathon?

From Jon on Tue, Sep 18, 2007 at 15:27:25

Mine is later in the month, so that doesn't count. I'm willing to bet that about 9% of the blog has their b-day in October...

From Tom on Tue, Sep 18, 2007 at 15:28:44

Oops! Sorry for the double-post.

Just wanted to mention the room I had mentioned earlier is no longer available.

Sorry to barge in on the B-Day party discussion. If I don't happen to make it to one of the parties I'll go ahead now and wish a Happy Birthday to all to whom it applies!

From James in Sunny AZ on Tue, Sep 18, 2007 at 17:36:10

Mine is before - this friday. Sadly, the twenties are already behind me . . . I don't know if we will be able to stay for the after-race party, however - we have a 7-hour drive back to Mesa.

From Ryan on Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 16:38:44

SGM Alert! A coworker of mine is dropping out of the race and has a room available at the Courtyard Marriott. If you are interested let me know and I'll get you in touch with him.

From Michelle on Thu, Sep 20, 2007 at 10:07:26

Anyone know how these parties normally go? I have a husband and three kids who probably aren't thrilled to hang out for several hours with 40 people they don't know, but I definitely want to pop in the party and say hello and meet people face to face. I assume it won't go too late, but when is the "party" get really hopping? Sorry to be a prima donna.

So this is my RSVP, we will show up and probably not for dinner. But I am sure I'll have a loaf of bread or some type of food to share.

From Michelle on Thu, Sep 20, 2007 at 10:08:38

I also have a friend who has a reasonable room in a motel available, but she will get rid of it by the end of this week if it doesn't get spoken for. Let me know if you need it!

From Ethan on Sat, Oct 06, 2007 at 22:57:23

Thank you for the spaghetti party! I got some good noodles and mingled a little bit. It was fun to meet up with some bloggers.
